Bosch GSB 10 RE Pistol Grip Drill (10 mm)

Pros:
  1. It delivers on all counts, Drilling, screwing and unscrewing.
  2. The best thing about this is the variable trigger. This is vital for using it as a power screw driver.
  3. Being a chuck tightened piece makes it versatile across the bosch range of bits.
  4. Drilled into: a) 2 inch thick solid wood 3mm bit, 10 seconds on rotary modeb) Solid red brick wall, 6mm bit right up to the hilt in 50 seconds on hammer mode. c) Concrete wall, 6 mm bit, 1 min 45 seconds in hammer mode.
  5. Yes I timed it. Had to exert the usual amount of pressure. But hey! thats great power!
  6. 5. Used the reverse driver mode to remove screws from the panels of my two wheeler... very easy! From my wooden cabinet... all the more easy.
  7. 6. And the price is great. Cheaper and more powerful than a cordless one.

Other comments:

  1. Weight: Heavy, one needs to have strong arms and wrists to use and stablize this. Else invest in a side arm if you are planning to use it for drilling.
  2. Torque: This is a high torque machine and since it is designed to work as a drill as well... one has to be careful when using it as a screwdriver. If not used properly it will slip off the head and eat into the surrounding area. Be careful what screws you use. The OTC ones in your local hardware shop may not be able to handle this power.
  3. Corded: Being corded is both an advantage and disadvantage. Adv: You do not have to worry about charging and battery life. Disadvantage:You need power supply and the cord length can be a limitation even if you have a power supply
  4. Flexibility: Does not have the flexibility and freedom of a cordless machine.
Conclusion: If you are looking for an all-purpose home, vehicle and office use machine and you don’t mind a corded version, this is what you need.
